How do I find my ideal client?
This question drove me CRAZY when I started my business!
I kept hearing from coaches or mentors:
“How old are they”
“Where do they live”
“What are their pain points”
And while it’s important to know all of those things…
First I had to figure out who THEY were.
Like, how am I supposed to know those things if I don’t know the person?
(Is that just me?)
Sooo I set out to know them, make them real. (No not an imaginary friend..well kind of lol)
Here are my three top tips to creating your ideal client profile.
- Make them real to you
- Write it like a biography
- A detailed description of a person’s life. It involves more than just the basic facts like education, work, relationships, and death; it portrays a person’s experience of these life events. Unlike a profile, a biography presents a subject’s life story, highlighting various aspects of his or her life, including intimate details of experience, and may include an analysis of the subject’s personality. (Wikipedia)
- Use people you know (or yourself) to get started then just let the rest flow
The importance of knowing who you’re selling to so your content is tailored for everything they’re looking for is crucial. And this can be daunting, it might even be hard knowing where to start. So after years of creating Ideal Client Profiles, I created an exercise to help with the process.
Until next time,
